First dance song: “Open” by Rhye
I am so excited to share this fall wedding day! Regina & Corbin were dreamy to work with. They have been together since they were 15 years old, for over 13 years. I feel like I should have written that in all caps! It is apparent their love is natural, effortless and tranquil. They both have an awesome sense of humor and loving, close friends and family. They had the most perfect, intimate easy-going wedding day at a favorite venue- Firehouse Chicago. I also had the pleasure of working at this venue for Amy & Holly and Julie & Melissa’s wedding days. Firehouse Chicago is a restored firehouse events venue with unique vintage charm that can accommodate up to 100 guests. They are also wonderful people to work with.
I first met Regina where she was slipping into her Chloe shoes and a special wedding gown handmade by her mother with a belt from Anthropologie. Katie Brown from Art Farm was there to deliver Regina’s absolutely gorgeous flower crown (my favorite one to date) and the beautiful boutonnieres. They had their first look on the fire escape and we headed off for photos. Regina, Corbin and I spent some time shooting along Lake Michigan, on Howard Avenue near my old Chicago neighborhood and at a favorite Andersonville Garden Center, Gethsemane. I am sure Chicagoans will recognize the Fish Keg on Howard. The fact that they wanted to shoot there made me love them even more than I already did. Their ceremony was held in the garden that night and the lively reception included cigar smoking, a family style Italian meal, homemade Italian cookies including seven layer, cherry almond, and some affectionately known as “the diamonds”, all made by Regina’s mother. And… a major dance party. Ferrara bakery created an Italian cannoli filled cake for R&G and it was great to work with Fig Catering again.
I loved spending the day with Regina, Corbin, their beautiful families and friends. I am so thankful and honored they invited me to witness and document this very loving wedding day, particularly since they are very into photography. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did creating them!
