The couple: Jessie & Josh have been together for over a decade and were both in law school and planning a wedding when we first met. So many amazing life changes in a year! This super ambitious couple chose the outdoor family farm wedding venue Heartland Meadows in Knoxville, TN to celebrate their ceremony and reception. They enlisted Team Wedding to help plan the day.

The details: The couple chose a summer palette with rich purples, bright oranges and yellows. They held their ceremony under a giant oak tree and celebrated afterwards in the reception barn. They hired a magician to entertain guests and had card games including one of their favorites, Uno, to play during cocktail hour. Their wedding was playful and colorful on a beautiful hot summer day. I loved watching them dance with their friends and seeing their sweet martial arts skills (evidence below). I’m so excited for this newly married couple and all of the exciting things happening in their lives and am glad I got to document their day!

The wedding pros: Rosa’s Catering, Market Square Magic, Studio Motion Films, Knox Vegas DJs and Bangs and Blush.

The couple: Elinor & Shaddi met during high school in Knoxville, TN and have been together since. They love birdwatching and climbing and have made San Francisco, California their home. They wanted to get married in Knoxville and chose a Fall wedding at the Botanical Garden. I loved hanging out with them for their engagement session in San Francisco earlier in the year. Definitely take a look at those photos out on the blog, such an incredible day. I always appreciate the opportunity to spend time with my couples before their wedding and hope those experiences make photography on the wedding day effortless.

The details: The floral design by Colby West Design made a huge impression on me. I absolutely fell in love with Elinor’s bouquet which featured radishes and okra. The reception tables were lined with gourds, fruits, feathers and vegetables and the chuppah with persimmons was incredibly special. The couple worked with Marvyl from Team Wedding to bring their cool wedding vision to life. The reception tables were identified with significant numbers like 865 for the Knoxville area code. The favors for guests were lavender sachets from their CSA farm box provider Eatwell Farm. Guests signed in by pinning their home and suggested travel destinations on a map. A friend created a home brew in honor of the wedding day featuring the Knoxville Sunsphere on the label. A home grown 20lb squash on the gift table, a favorite poem displayed at the reception, Elinor’s camp counselors wearing camp head scarves for the celebration- so many cool details throughout the day!

The ceremony: Elinor & Shaddi signed a nikah and ketubah in the gardens before their ceremony and have a unique marriage license as they were born in Israel and Palestine. Guests from all over the world witnessed the ceremony uniting two different lives, families, and faith backgrounds. The ceremony took place outdoors in the garden with a view of the Smoky Mountains before a huge party with dinner, dancing and cookie cake! A huge thank you and congratulations to Shaddi & Elinor. I loved being a part of this wedding day!

The wedding pros: Team Wedding, Ogle Entertainment/Special Notes Entertainment, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Rosa’s Catering, All Occasions Party Rentals, Colby West Design, Southern Sirens , Two Arrow Cinema

The couple: Sarah & Erik are from Baton Rouge, LA. This adventurous couple who love the outdoors and hiking planned a weekend in Tennessee and a wedding at the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove within the Smoky Mountains National Park. Friends and family members traveled to spend the weekend in the mountains at Townsend, Tennessee wedding venue and lodge Dancing Bear. You can see their Smoky Mountain waterfall engagement photos here.

The details: The couple worked with Marvyl from Team Wedding to plan a classic wedding with a coral and green color palette. Some of my favorite details of the day: Sarah’s Bella Belle beaded bridal shoes, personalized camp coffee mug favors, a floral hoop from florist Foxglove & Heather, the incredible dance floor with the help of Kimz Entertainment  including Sarah dancing to her favorite song, “Proud Mary” and Stephanie Torregrossa the live wedding painter they hired to paint a scene from their reception.

The ceremony: Getting to the ceremony in Cades Cove gave us some interesting views and lots of traffic. The Park had scheduled a controlled burn at that time and gave us an opportunity to have some beautiful smoke, clouds and filtered light for their portraits. A family member played guitar and the church was flooded with beautiful afternoon light while the guests were seated. The historic Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove was built by hand in 1827 and is such a unique place to get married in East Tennessee. With the wedding party by their sides, Sarah & Erik said their vows and celebrated with lots of passionate kisses and super excited guests in the sunshine afterwards. We set off for portraits throughout Cades Cove after the ceremony and ended up back at Dancing Bear right before sunset.

The food and drinks: Sarah & Erik created signature drinks- an Old Fashioned for Erik and a “Prancing Bear” for Sarah made with Wheatley Vodka, strawberry and sage shrub, honey bitters and ginger beer . The food included succotash, jambalaya and a classic wedding cake from Art of Cakes Bakery.

Thank you Sarah & Erik and congratulations!

Elinor & Shaddi met during high school in Knoxville, TN and have been together ever since. They held their wedding at the Knoxville Botanical Garden but wanted their engagement photos at home in California. We got the best of both worlds and had a major adventure in California starting at sunrise.

We started at a Palace of the Fine Arts and from there explored gardens, beautiful coast line, views of the Golden Gate Bridge, warehouses on the Bay, the Sutro Baths, a museum campus, cablecars, Chinatown and a final stop at Boba Guys for coconut green bubble tea with Oat milk, YUM. I’d kill to have one now. I can’t wait to share their wedding photos on the blog soon!

The couple: Meet Nadine & Donatello. This very special couple live in downtown Knoxville and wanted to celebrate their marriage by hosting a vow renewal celebration at the Knoxville Museum of Art before moving to a new city. Their priority was bringing friends and family members from all over the world together. Party attendees traveled from Dubai, Toronto, Michigan, Maryland, New York, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.

The details: Nadine put so much thought into every detail, working with Marvyl from Team Wedding to make everything picture perfect. Some of my favorite details of the day include: vibrant neon pink and yellow flowers mixed with a pastel wedding palette, crispy chickpea panelle with octopus, sumac, parsley and pine nuts crostini, Nadine’s art deco dress from BHLDN, the colors of the Fall leaves seen through the museum windows, chocolate and vanilla cakes from Magpies Bakery and the local bean to bar chocolate and cardamom chocolate bars from Unrefined Chocolate as favors.

The ceremony: After a first look in the sculpture garden at Market Square, Nadine & Donatello had portraits made in the historic building where they live and around downtown Knoxville. Afterwards they held a ceremony with a floral and greenery hoop from Melissa Timm Designs underneath the Richard Jolley glass installations in the museum. A live Americana Bluegrass band, Kyle Campbell and the Bearded, marched the wedding party into the ceremony space.

The food and drinks: They incorporated their Lebanese and Italian heritage in the cuisine. The Chef was Matt Gallaher from Blackberry Farm with service by Billy Johnson. Following the Italian tradition, Donatello changed into different suits between courses. They served traditional Italian cocktails including Aperol spritz.

The dance floor: Nadine & Donatello danced an Argentine tango as their first dance then invited guests from their tango class to join them with the help of DJ Nick Harris. I had a great time watching and documenting the dancing and celebrating and so enjoyed this wedding day from start to finish! Enjoy the images. Thank you so vey much for having me Nadine & Donatello!

The wedding pros: With White Table, All Occasions Party Rentals, Southern Belle Beauty and the Valet Guys.
