Liz & Onyx’s Olympia, WA Wedding

First dance song: “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli
I have been meaning to blog this summer, 2014 wedding for a long time after launching the new website. It is a favorite for a million reasons- this cute couple, the locations, the guests and I could go on. Liz & Onyx asked me to come out to Seattle and Bainbridge Island to photograph their engagement session (um, yes) and Olympia, WA to document their entire wedding weekend and I was more than happy to do so! They started hosting a BBQ at their home. The chickens! Their trailers! Those dogs! And that cotton candy sky. After visiting Olympia Coffee Roasting Company (the best coffee I’ve ever had) and cruising through bluegrass, cherries and lavender heaven farmer’s market we  headed to The Manor at South Bay. This venue is perfect for an intimate wedding where you can house many of your guests and enjoy the pool, and incredible farm land. The day before their wedding was outdoor fun, DIY decor, shared meals and live music. Liz, Onyx and friends are musicians. At one point the entire house broke out into a sing-a-long while crafting, cooking and prepping. I love moments like this. It’s awesome to photograph a small wedding where guests spend the weekend getting to know each other prior to the main event. The wedding day was full of shooting at incredible locations around town including the Puget Sound, a romantic ceremony with a honey unity ritual, a black, white and red color scheme and insane light. Also- let this be encouragement for everyone planning a wedding that rainy days can make for amazing photos!

Most of the finishing touches were made by Liz & Onyx, their friends and family. Zak the Barber was Liz’s hair stylist. Chipotle catered the wedding reception. I absolutely loved being a part of this wedding weekend, thank you to Liz & Onyx. I met Korel that weekend and will be photographing his wedding weekend with fiancé PK at a Portland campground next June (passes out) and am also beyond excited to photograph their guests Crystal and Sammye’s wedding next summer. Good people introduce you to more good people. I couldn’t be more grateful for that. I am honored their engagement session was featured by A Bicycle Built for Two and their wedding was featured by Offbeat Bride here. Enjoy the photos from this Olympia wedding weekend!
